The church at Ephesus was overrun with false teaching. Paul left Timothy to face these challenges and encouraged him to remain strong and committed to the task of declaring the truth. Timothy’s work required clear theological convictions but it also requires those convictions to be worked out in the messy reality of people and relationships.
